I just purchased this 2012 Touareg for my father, and I've noticed this
persistent whining noise coming from the front passenger side area of the car. I had a VW specialty shop look it over and they could not isolate the noise. The Drive shaft/prop shaft rubber/bearings seem to be in good shape and it is not making a thudding sound. It has new pulley/tensioner for water/injector pump.
Symptoms
-Loud whining as illustrated in the video
-Very very mild and infrequent feedback in steering wheel associated with whining (and I mean virtually undetectable and very sparse).
Frequency
-Most prominent between 20-50mph seems to subside at highway speeds.
-Is not limited to corning (usual wheel bearing sign)
-Does not change or stop when AC/Heater is on or off (Not the blower motor)
-Only happens when vehicle is moving
