Is $600 for all of this + Labor:

Long life
T-Belt, Serpintine belts/v belt, Water pump, t/belt tensioners , valve
cover gasket, antifreeze.

Worth it or a good cost?

$600 inluding all parts & labor is more like it. B4s are the easiest TDIs to change a timing belt on.

Make the trip to the Madison area and let JasonTDI work on your car.

I got a quote from a German shop in my town and they quoted me $600 with all the parts listed plus Labor.

B4's are also a pain in the ass to do a water pump on compared to the ALH, perhaps they are anticipating hours of extracting broken bolts too. See if you can get a breakdown of all the labor as line irems, it might make more sense then. In my shop I charge between 5 and 6 hours for the job, not including water pump, but I am pretty careful and go slow.

good luck

Have you looked at metalmanparts.com or dieselgeek.com?

Honestly, this german shop doesn't have the tools if they are charging you $600... you can get the tools and do it yourself for that price.

Buddy, you are gonna need a hell of a lot more parts than that for $600.00!!!

Get your car to JASON ASAP...

Cost wise, I suspect you are looking at around $350.00 for parts plus labor...RUN AWAY from whoever is bending you over!

Order an all inlusive timing belt kit:

http://www.dieselgeek.com/Detail.bok?no=341

Go to www.worldimpex.com and order the following parts to take with:

Order your tensioner parts:
http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/500/AHU_1Z_Serpentine_Tensioner_parts_list.pdf

Here is a parts list to take with for the water pump...
http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/500/A3_B4_water_pump_replacement.pdf
(NOTE: DO NOT ORDER THE WHOLE PUMP HOUSING! Order ONLY the parts in the .pdf! This parts
list includes the updated metal/rubber pump gasket used in the AHU motor that eliminated the old style paper gasket. Again DO NOT deviate from the parts listed in this .pdf)

Show up at Jason's and get these things replaced given you have 210,000+ miles.
