Default WTB one Monterey wheel (\'03-04 Jetta style)

I recently purchased a set of 4 15" alloys, which came from a 2004 Jetta. I believe they are called Monterey? I haven't put them on yet, but I would like to find one more to use as a spare. I will be making a road trip to the Midwest, so can pick up one in SoCal or there or anywhere along the route, to avoid shipping costs. Please PM or email.

I don't think the Avus wheels are coming on the '04 cars. If you are talking about these:

...they are not the Avus (unless VW is still calling them that).

These are the Avus wheels that came on '02 and prior cars:

I believe the term is "Avus 2" (II?).

Me, too!!!

I would also like to buy a single "Avus 2" rim. I'm in sunny/rainy Vancouver, BC, CANADA.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. I assure you I have no declared or undeclared WMD.

Thank you for the information. I have updated my original message and the thread title.

The "Driver Gear" catalog I received from VW does not list or show a picture of the OEM alloy wheel that comes on the 2004 Jetta.

Okay, here is what I want. One at least, but I might buy two.

The best bet for you guys would have a mini-group buy of 4 people and buy a used set from the classifieds over at www.vwvortex.com

Among the hundreds of wheels offered for sale on the Vortex, I did not see the one I wanted.

Or else I do not have the correct name for this wheel.

I believe the '03 and later wheel you desire are called "Monterey". I bought a set of four for my '02

Thanks. I've updated my original message to reflect the correct name for the alloy wheel. (I'm fairly certain that it is the Monterey wheel that I want.)

Edit: Now I'm not so sure. I stopped by the dealership and talked with the parts manager. I gave him the VIN off a new Jetta on the lot that had these tires, and he pulled up the parts number.

But he said OEM wheels don't have names -- only the upgrade wheels.

I have a set of 4 with the original tires, (only 15,000 miles on the tires), that I swapped out when I installed my 17's.

Only have 2 problems:

1) I live in Ohio;

2) I don't want to break up a set of four new rims;

If you can find 3 other people who want to buy the rest of them from me I would be willing to deal.

PM me.

I'm interested... Can you send me an emai with how much you are asking for the 4 Wheels/Tires?
WHat tires are on these rims, are they the Michelin MXV Energy 195 65 15?

Thanks,
Joe

We've exchanged PMs and I can tell you the tires are the OEM Michelins.

Ohio is too far out of the way for me to pick up one or two wheels during my upcoming Midwest trip. And shipping costs, I think, eliminate any possibility for me to get a good deal.

So I am still looking, and you are welcome to negotiate a deal for these wheels, if you wish.

If four of you buy the wheels shipping should only be ~$25 for each wheel via FedEx ground.
