Monsoon stereo fit 98 Jetta?

Anyone out there know if a factory Monsoon stereo from the 99-04 Passats would any way fit in a 98 Jetta? It doesn't seem likely...but thought I'd ask anyway.

It will fit, but it won't work... the monsoon headunit relies on the amp in the trunk.

FYI, I have a factory Monsoon Amp, headunit and CD Changer from an A4 Jetta. Fits in the factory spot just fine, a little wiring is needed for the amp, but it works. I will be up at this GTG:
