Advice needed on dodging a dodgy passat

Hay, i'm looking to update my car in the very near future, but may still keep it around, my very faithful Golf 130 estate, love this car, so looking for something just as good to repalce it, so, so started to look at passats, seems there are problems with some of these 2.0, the Hex shaft in the oil pump, on the 140's, is it just this model?? or do all the models suffer the same issues? when i looked for my golf, i was looking at a lot of 2.0lts, but it even seems back then, there problems with the oil pumps, what after a 100 years of car making cars they still can't get it right....any advice would be greatful. thanks
