vw jetta tdi 2014 will crank but not start

During repair, ecm cover was accidently touched with battery plus. Since that car will crank but not start. Also if key stays on in the car after trial to start radiator fan start
in high speed. Car was checked . All fuses ok, all relays ok. I scanned with VAG and received the following info

Just wonder if anybody experienced such case like that. Since that ecm will not communicate either. From autoscan probably could be concluded that abs module and power steering assisted module gone, not sure about can gateway j533 and also ecm module gone. I like to have second opinion before I will replace those parts which take lots of effort to change.

I think you fried your ECU. No communication with several modules, including the engine. If the car can't communicate with the engine computer, it isn't going to run.

I put used ecm and still not communicate with other modules.

Have you programmed your keys to the used ecm? I may not communicate with other modules if not programmed in

Might be one of those little ground wires got smoked when the battery current shorted out. Check the continuity between the ground and connectors to the ECU and other controllers.

VW typically uses brown casing on the ground wires so you should be able to find them as they go into the connectors.

Hopefully you can find something shorted in the wires and repair them.

I did not programme key yet to used ecu however I was told that if everything ok car will start for couple seconds and shut off showing immobilizer light on cluster display

You shouldn't need to program keys to just communicate with the ECU. If it works it will start and dies without key recognition. It does sound more like a voltage supply issue to the ECU, or missing ground.
Low B+ errors can simply be caused by battery disconnection or running low. Erase all codes and make sure battery voltage is good and retest.
Check all fuses in the car. I use a test light, not just visually, and check them in place for power on both sides. Most of them will have power on both sides with the key on, except for lighting fuses for instance, but you turn on the lights they will.
Another trick is to take any module that doesn't communicate and unplug them one at a time and check to see if the others come on line after unplugging one. I have seen the CAN system get pulled down entirely by a bad module even though that shouldn't happen. The first module I unplug is the ABS controller as failure rate is high.
If still no communication with ECU, start testing at the ECU connector plugs for proper power and grounds. Grounds are terminals 1 through 6 on the 94 pin plug, they will all be brown. Terminal 92 red/blk should be 12v constant. All gleaned by a quick glance at the diagram so don't quote me. If you need more help with that let me know.
You should hear, and/or feel the voltage supply relay come on when the ignition is switched on. It is the one in the underhood fuse panel B.

Thanks pdq import repair for productive valuable info . I got myself electrical diagrams manual from vw and spend quite time to get familiar with that. I already did some checks including grounds for ecu, power . Definitely need more checks. I checked all fuses relays . They seems to work ok. However I will do it again.

I got couple issues with car after crash grounded computer cover (made from metal and unprotected I think big tip for vw producer for redesign and safer location of computer) with battery plus.

Radiator fan comes on high speed after trial of start, glow plug coil light not coming on cluster when you put keys into ignition as well no communication with ecu .abs steering assist and j533 interface module. The project sounds challenging and very educating.

After rereading and thinking I am leaning more to the J533 issues as a serious problem. The fan may be an issue from lack of communication to climatronic. The engine computer communicates only across the CAN, as does the cluster and respective lights. ABS likewise is definitely CAN based too.

Hopefully the CAN gateway is the issue as it would be relatively cheap and probably pretty readily gotten used even.

However the ABS controllers are very well known to be fragile, but they are rebuildable if needed. I use Module Master for that. I would try isolating the ABS first as I mentioned to see if the CAN might come alive.

Failing that, isolate the ECU and see if CAN happens. And so on....

CAN gateway j533 looks not seperated module for vw jetta 2014 tdi. I was looking all over under dashboard could not find it. Looks like it is integrated with bcm module j519. I guess I have to keep looking

Thanks pdq import repair for advise . I still did not solve the problem with my car. I disconnected ecm, hook up vag. Only shows that ecm not connected. The same thing with abs. I am little confuse because if can bus will not communicate there should be red light on the cable, in my case is green on when doing .

I got used j301 climatronic controller installed temporary, little different from original( original # 5c0820047 bn ,used one 5c0820047 bd -diffirence : my has switches for seats; used one does not), i did not adopt it (should be no matter if i want to check if controller communicate or not).

I also found that gateway controller j533 is integrated with bcm ) as my vw jetta tdi is simple regular model

Any more tips could be helpful.
