Was checking out why my AC has not been functioning as of late, found no fault codes stored on the HVAC. There is no pressure change on the low / high side. I also noticed that the shaft of the AC compressor is not spinning.

Is it correct to state that they're NO clutch on these units?

I am assuming the pump locked up and spun the pulley off the safety tabs? OR ?

thanks.

RCV (refrigerant control valve) on the compresor is the main or at least a huge failure point from what I've seen before locating my a/c issue. The symptoms are usually half @ss cooling that improves with higher rpm.

Yes the compressor is NOT clutched as some variable systems are. Empty systems can cause big damage if "freon" is lost as the gasses carry the lubricating oil. The pulley is designed to break those tabs to spin if the compressor locks up.
