• The TDIClub classifieds section is a heavily trafficked section of the forum that encompasses want-to-buy (WTB) and for-sale (FS) threads for the entire world. Due to the demanding nature and fast pace of this section, it is imperative that you know and understand the rules. It is also important to remember that this is the only parts classifieds section.

Cross-posting and posting classifieds in the regional sections (except the dedicated thread in Ontario) is not permitted.

Multiple items should be sold in one thread. Make sure to provide a description for all items in your post along with pictures and prices. If you start multiple threads with individual items, they will be locked or combined at the discretion of the moderators.

Here is a quick outline of the classifieds section rules. If you don't follow these rules, you subject yourself to thread deletion, thread combination, infractions, or posting privilege revocation.

    Thread titles:
    • Put FS or WTB in your thread title. This will let other users know if you are selling or buying.
    • Briefly describe what you are selling. Thread titles have limited space. Be as descriptive, yet succinct, as possible.
    • Put your location in the title.
    • If space allows, put your price in the title

Title example (single item): "FS: 2004 Mk4/BEW cylinder head - Portland, OR - $500"
Title example (multiple items): "FS: MK6 fog lights, front bumper, headlights, grill - Detroit, MI"
Title example (car part-out): "FS: Mk3 Jetta parting out engine & interior - Dallas, TX"

    Thread text descriptions and pictures:
    • All for-sale threads must include pictures of the items that you are selling. One picture is sufficient, but multiple pictures with different angles will help buyers. A picture is worth a thousand words. If you don't know how to post pictures on TDIClub, see this thread: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=286691
    • All for-sale threads must include a description. We don't charge per-word, so be as descriptive as possible. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for buyers.
    • All for-sale threads must include a price. Auctions and bidding are not allowed. If you want to auction something off, use eBay.
No picture, no price, NO SALE!

    Thread maintenance/updates/bumps:
    • When you sell something, update your thread with "SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title.
    • If you have multiple items for sale, update your thread as each item has been sold. When everything has been sold, updated the thread with "ALL ITEMS SOLD!" Moderators will close the thread and update the title when all items have been sold.
    • If you bump your thread, please delete old bumps by clicking on EDIT and then deleting the old bump. This will reduce clutter in your thread and make it easier to read. It also makes you look less desperate.
    • If you drop your price, please update your first post in addition to posting the new price. If you would like the thread title changed, click on the report post icon and let a moderator know what you would like the title changed to.

    Moderator intervention and infraction points:
Moderators will be monitoring the classifieds section. If a moderator determines that you have not been following the rules listed above, corrections will be made and infraction points will be assessed to your account.

What is an infraction point? Simple - it's a system of keeping track of user behavior. A moderator can assign a point value based on the severity of the infraction, as well as an expiration date on the points assessed. If you accumulate a certain number of points, the system will auto-ban you for a predefined amount of time. The more points you accumulate, the longer your ban period will be.

One example of points is as follows: multiple threads will be combined into a single thread, with the number of infraction points assessed corresponding to the number of threads merged. If we merge four threads into one, then you will be assessed four points that expire in 30 days. When you reach five points, the system will auto-ban you for one day.*

*This is an example based on the current infraction system structure. We reserve the right to modify the infraction system at any time without notice or updates to this announcement.

Thank you for your cooperation, and good luck with your sales and searches! :)

Known Issues: (Additional detailed photos will be added to the link above)

Suffered engine compartment burn on January 28, 2008.

Hood damaged beyond repair by the fire/Fire Department

Drivers front fender panel has dents from Fire Dept trying to open the hood (repairable).

Drivers side front door would sometimes unlock but not disarm the alarm.

Drivers side rear door was struck by a deer last year and has a tea-saucer sized dent. The door opens from inside because the outside handle slack adjuster popped loose, the window rolls down, but wants to roll up outside of the track, so I disconnected the switch to prevent any problems.

6 CD changer was removed and installed in my replacement TDI

Head liner has holes from where a rear TV/DVD player was mounted

Interior parts broken or (working at xx%):
Front cup holder 80%
arm rest closing latch (Broken)
glove compartment hinge (Right hinge broke)
rear center seat belt has retracted up tight (don't know how/if it can be released)

More details will be posted as requested.

I was informed on 2/11 that it will be up to the DMV to determine if my title is branded as salvaged, this may come with a clean title

I don't think the US Postal Service can get my title here fast enough to end this self-inflicted misery. I wouldn't be going through this process if my insurance company realized the actual value of a TDI, all of the comparables were gassers with a $425 adder for the TDI and -$1450 for my "high mileage", It's a diesel for crying out loud.

 It would be fun to start a pool on how many people fail to read the rules. PM me if interested...

Thanks for the bids, so far it is looking good for those TDIers wanting parts. I haven't heard back on any bids for the complete car. I spent the evening making room in the shop and washing the car. Most of the ice and snow has melted. Hopefully I can drag the Jetta inside tomorrow for more photos, get the hood off, and start assessing the extent of the fire damage.

You give a date and time when the bidding starts.. you should have a closing date and time for bidding, too. Otherwise you have a very lop-sided agreement.

 Times up. Let this be my notice to close the bidding. Sorry for not giving an official closing time before, but I had to wait until the title was paid/released by my insurance company. Thanks for your patience. I have the vehicle in the shop and have been franticly tearing it down. I now know what an archeologist must feel like, they find relics in the sand, I'm finding mine under gobs of melted plastic.

I thought I would post a few photos on my progress. Tearing it apart has not been too bad of a process. I overfilled one garbage can and am working on the next.

Here is a closer look (sorry if there seems to be no depth of field to this photo, I'll try another tomorrow):

It looks like the intercooler managed to survive:

Thanks again for your support and patience. I'll get specific part photos posted by Friday.

I've been telling everyone at work it was due to extreme heat:D More realistically it was battery failure or some short in the general area. The heat was severe enough to completely melt the battery into a clump of lead, plastic, and sulpheric acid. The air box, intake pipes, egr valve and even the N75 valves were turned into liquid goo, which then hardened into an indistinquishable layer on everything. I have to admit VW designed a firewall that did it's intended job very well. The wiring harness melted up under the winshield wipers, but did not get to the ECM modules. I cut the cables short and left them connected to protect the connections.

I'm pretty sure it is all there. Spare tire, jack, tire iron, foam insert, hardboard cover, carpet, looks like there is room for something else, but I'm not sure what it should be.

I'm posting photos to the gallery of the head, injectors, turbo, block, floormats, passenger visor (It has a hard plastic flip door, not a slider, and has an integrated switch to turn on the vanity light above)

I need the bracket on the passenger side of the engine that mounts the the upper end of the small damper(shock absorber) in that area. Mine has the mounting flange that mounts the damper broken off. Will you sell this? Thanks.
