Can anyone provide instruction on how to replace one of the center air vents in my dash? The lever that moves it left to right snapped off.

Also, anyone know where to purchase a replacement?

Thanks!

I installed a gauge pod in one of my center vents.

The vent duct assembly is very firmly secured to the panel above the radio. You have to pry carefully at it, but also somewhat forcefully since it likes to snap back into place as you try to snap it out of the panel. Once it is separated you can easily remove the horizontal slats.

I am having a similar problem except that door deeper down inside the vent won't open now. What happened what someone accidentally broke it trying to close them fully. They had a slight leak that bothered him. How can I replace or repair that lever? This is not the one that aims the vent but it is the one that looks like a wheel. The only thing was he broke both on the middle dashboard vents and it upsets me somewhat.

Is where you can get your replacement.

1. Top grill pops off by prying up.
2. Remove one Screw in the middle closest to the glass
3. Pull up and towards you on that plastic piece.
4. Remove two screws
5. Carefully pull/pry up on whole vent assembly. (piece will break if not careful)
6. Do not turn car on with hazard switch unplugged.
7. Repeat backwards to put back together
8. Enjoy the money savings by not paying someone to do it!

Just came across this - looking for the same info.

Here are the part numbers, if anyone needs them. It was a little tricky finding the right diagrams on VW's site.

Center dash outlet vents: 1K0819728H1QB
Center console (armrest) vents for rear seat: 1K08192033X1

Best prices I've found are on parts.com so far. Be weary of the generic versions of the dash vents - most don't seem to have the airbag indicator light space.

-edit- ecstuning is the best deal right now, with free shipping.

How do I replace broken rear armrest vent in 2006 mk5 Jetta
I’ve removed the whole assembly but don’t know how to remove the vent itself to replace
