MK6 1.6 TDi DSG - Coolant Leak

i have recently noticed a screeching sound emitting from drivers side.

today the low coolant level light came on and there was coolant on the ground.

i have removed the front drivers side wheel and the wheel arch liner and discovered the leak around crank shaft pully, down the side of the sump and the soft cover under the sump was drenched.

is it a failed water pump?

could it be the metal coolant pipe above the crank shaft pully which had a drip on it and this is leaking coolant onto the side of the sump?

could be either, probably the pump. thre is a UV kit that you can add with a cheap light, you can get it at most auto stores. It can help big time to find a tricky leak

pumps fail and leak intentionally, there is a weep hole on the pump and when the bearing goes bad to breaks the seal on the weep hole and starts leaking to let you know its on its way out.
