The 700k (Super Exclusive) Mile Club

Please share some wisdom. What have you done with the car? What, if anything, has gone wrong? Where has the car taken you? How's the car holding up? Etcetera!

Just turn 700k miles today. At about the original exhaust system came apart on both sides of the cat converter, I also lost 5th gear. So with the help of my friends in the TDIClub, they found me a used transmission with only 103K miles on it and the 5th gear on it is a .622 gear, so I’m having fun cruising up and down I-95 and I-64. I’ll keep you posted on the MPG improvements. Timing belt change is due at 705K. When it rains it pours.
Odometer reset after it stopped at about 621K.

What's one of your favorite memories driving this car?

I do not see any other 700k-mile Club threads.

There may not be to many yet with 700k on their cars. I’m only half way there.

Friend had our old family commute car with 525k. It would have made it but they hit an elk. What a shame lol

My Jetta gasoline has 525 also but it’s on last legs with head gasket leak. It’s been running on blue devil sealant for 20k now ...amazing. But it overheats and stuff now as the sealant sludges the engine. Only overheats in summer and it doesn’t seem to hurt anything hahaha. Incredibly robust engines.

Um, why don't you just get the head gasket replaced then?
