Hello, in the process of doing the buyback and wondering if I am not calculating something right or if other people are having the same problem because there are major discrepancies between the FTC documents, the buyback offer letter, and the email I got today for my buyback in a week. I got a 2015 Jetta TDI SE w/Connectivity with a 6 Speed manual. I will have under 51,500 miles on the car when it is bought back.
For the mileage adjustment (using 51,500 miles for wiggle room) I am calculating 36 months, (September 2015 to September 2018) which 36 months x 1,042 miles is 37,512 miles; making my adjusted mileage 13,988 miles. Under the FTC documents, the 10,000-15,000 mileage bracket shows $0 adjustment for a 2015 jetta. In the buyer chart, it is showing $25,515 for the 2015 Jetta Sedan 4d SE TDI I4. In the options, I then minus $900 for the manual transmission; for a total buyback amount of $24,615. This is also what the buyback calculator is saying.
In my offer letter, it is showing Vehicle Return Amount: $17,950 and Additional Restitution Payment: $6576.73. A Grand Total of $24,526.73. Which is short $88.27, and I thought no problem. The car had 28,000 miles at the time this was done.
Today I get an email stating my buyback appointment is Sept. 7 and breaks down what I will receive; showing Vehicle Return Amount: $17,400.00 and Additional Restitution Payment: $6466.73. A Grand Total of $23,866.73. This was based on 48,900 miles on the car, when I set up the appointment. This is now short $748.27 from the FTC documents.
Is anyone else noticing this? Am I missing something in my calculations? Was there additional documents that came out that amended the amount that we receive? I tried contacting the claims reps in the online portal and basically all they said was they can neither confirm nor deny anything; they are basically worthless. They gave me an email address, to the settlement lawyers, that they said I could try but haven't heard anything back yet.
