Bypass the radiator with some hose or clamp off the inlet and outlet of the radiator. Fill up the block with water and crank the cabin heat. I would think it would make 10 miles no problems if u drive it easy.

Good idea. You could do a test run before hand, and watch the temp gauge.

No explanation has EVER been given. The only VW people I've talked to are the call center people--who don't really know anything. I've asked repeatedly for someone to call and explain what is going on.
