I couldn't find a thread that had data on all TDI Adapter options available, so here's a start. Are there others out there? Anyone have experience with these? Also, experience / opinions of the transmissions they mate to?

OPT 1. tdiclub member evguy1's TDI adapters. Not specific to one trans, they make the back of the TDI look like another engine. These are well respected from what I gather here. http://gastodiesel.tdconversions.com/adapter/

OPT 2. Quicktime RM 4082 TDI to T5 trans bellhousing. I can't find a thread where someone has used this one. It looks like it doesn't come with a crank to flywheel adapter. It's not clear on what flywheel / starter is needed. https://www.holley.com/products/drivetrain/bellhousings/bellhousings/parts/RM-4082

OPT 3. Acme TDI to Toyota W series adapter. Acme also machines a flywheel. Commonly used. I see comments about the challenge of aligning these on here. http://www.acmeadapters.com/

OPT 4. Cotybuilt TDI to NV35xx trans adapter. Retaining Jeep flywheel and pressure plate and I think starter. https://www.cotybuilt.com/hardware.html

Only know of acme and gas2diesel....acme is not known for quality

ev guy is pricey comparatively but quality from reviews id top notch. Hes very active here and engages in the forum to get input on the needs of the people looking for adapters so you know customer service is top notch. You dont have to worry about fitment/alignment issues with his adapters that youll find on acme. He's located in canuckastan where they have hockey games spontaneous break out on frozen surfaces, socialized health care and beer is like moonshine. Importing his parts pose no issues or outrageous shipping prices.

I dont know of the others but coming from the land cruiser crowd i never looked for jeep parts other than yj bumpers fit my 40 at a fraction of the cost of a 40 specific bumper.

There was an issue at one time with the acme plate. That issue has since been resolved, (supposedly) and the plates now come with more dowel pins to prevent any problems. That said, I know some people who have thousands of miles on their old style plate with no issues. I've had the TDI to geo tracker plate in my rig for about 6,000 miles with no issues yet.

That's good to know. Before i did my passat 5 speed conversion i spoke to a distributor that i had gotten my flywheel/clutch kit and tune from and he was not fond of acme due to the adapter being out of rebound. It was not the first one he had seen out of round. It took hours of work to get it within spec, when you're a shop trying to keep a job under a quoted price that additional/unwarranted labor is like tossing cash out the window.

Any manufacturer can have production issues and hopefully that issue has been solved, i just hope they made it right with anyone who purchased one that ate an input shaft and/or input shaft bearings.

In the end the more manufacturers making tdi adapers the better for the consumer. You'd hope they push each other to both give good quality and a more competitive price.

Acme has certainly been making them longer than anyone else I'm aware of. Seems like the 1.9 tdi would be the perfect engine for any sammie or tracker.

Good to know about diesel conversion specialists adapter, and the info on improvements with Acme. I've got more options than I realized.
