Are you using a cable for the clutch are you doing a hydro conversion?

In order to retain the stock location and feeling of the gearshifter we decided to use this kit:

In it´s place and working properly:

Still curious if you will use a hydro or cable clutch...

USRT's kit is great but this guy is using a 02A with a mechanical linkage kit. I don't think there is a way to adapt the 020 kit for this application.

No TDIs Currently, I have an R36 Corrado. I've had an ALH Corrado swap, AHU Corrado swap and 2003 TDI Jetta
I'm getting blind as I age, good catch :)

Great thread!

I own that linkage kit, but drilling 2 holes in the firewall would be so much easier...

Beautiful project but,

I can't for the life of me imagine why someone would want to revert to that blasted idler arm/linkage set-up, over a cable shifter.

When the linkage is tight and operating correctly, it feels way better than cable shift. My opinion...

The answer is easy!

If you put a 02a or 02j shifter in the car, the position it will work is not natural. You have to lean your body to change gears.

We did this way to remain 100% stock feeling from the Golf 1.

Updates:

Ecu with mafless files, and Imo is off

Wow- nice work guys! I am new to TDI world and have too many Q's to list! I have a 83MK1 GTI with what I was told is a AHU TDI with a 1.6l VE mech pump and no inter cooler. Can anyone tell me what year this engine is? I can't upload the pic but can ID it with some help.
