I've posted about this on Club Touareg, but I thought i'd try here too. This came up last night. Joy.

Dealer is fixing it for $110. So we'll see.

There was a recall on this a couple of years ago along with a software update for the ECU. I'm wondering if yours was replaced in the past and the part went bad OR if yours was still the original. If it was the original, it should've been covered.

Not sure. I do know that since it was replaced I got a bunch of DPF errors. So either the sensor is now reporting correctly, or something worse. I'm just trying to figure out how to correctly read the soot levels.

Do you mind posting your VCDS scan also showing your ECU software version?

It should be similar to this in VCDS:

From the looks of your VCDS scan, it does not look like the Emissions Service Action 23M1 was ever performed on your Touareg.

Your software version = Component: 3.0TDI EDC17A100AG 0040

The update would've changed your last 4 digits to 0100

Please see attached file showing the TSB and specifically page 7 where it shows what the new software is after the update.

Hope this all makes sense.

You should've received a new pressure sensor as well as part of this service action at no charge.

I'd call your dealer or VW and get them to take care of this for you.

There was a TSB done for a differential sensor, which at the time I thought was for the centre or rear differential, but only the sensor was replaced. They couldn't connect to upgrade the ECU. So I though nothing of it and time passes. So, I called the dealer, and their records say this was done, but it looks like it wasn't.

Yikes, this may turn out to be a fun experience with your dealer and trying to get them to do the update. Good luck, I wish you the best

yeah. I sent them a full vcds scan, so we'll see.

So the dealer managed to get the TSB done. I'm also getting the hood latch replaced so i'll have to fight for money back because of the TDB issue.

Ok, and update here. This is my fault for not following up, but I had all the same issues again. I came back to this thread, went back to the service action posted by Sprocett, rescanned, and yeah no match. The dealer had said they had done this, as I had asked on two separate occasions.


They flashed the ECU, and the version is now 110, not 100. Not sure what the difference is but so far so good. I have done a scan or looked at Block 108 yet.

Good to hear that you're updated to an even new ECU software version. I'm curious as to what the difference is.

Curious, are you planning on selling your Touareg back to VW?

Then can have it when I'm dead

I like the Treg too much, and as my work commute is going from over 800KM (550 miles) a week to less then 200, it'll be cheaper to maintain

I have noticed I smell more ammonia from the back end, so I suspect it's using more AdBlue.

After change timing belt I had P2456 Error fault code. The pipes were exchanged between them!I discovered this only after I changed two sensors thinking they were defective (Passat 1,6 TDI 2019)
