I was giving the car a big clean and decided to take the cover off the cruise control switch to clean it.

I got it back together and now I don't have cruise, I assume I put it back together incorrectly.

There is a silver metal barrel and a spring, what is the correct way/direction the metal barrel is supposed to sit and where does it go exactly?

I'd suggest getting another and carefully taking it apart to see how it goes together.

I've broken down a few, cleaned out all of the corrosion, regreased, etc and it's very hard to describe.

IIRC, the barrel and spring are just for the detent. Not sure if that helps.

Hey there

I wish I had another one and if it worked I'd just switch em out.

Does the barrel bridge a connection? I can get the switch back together and the spring performs it's function, but I must be putting the barrel in the wrong place.

I got it working, just got to push it right in there vertically, I used a wooden toothpick as its magnetized.
