If I didn't already have too many cars... That's a steal of a deal! It already has a lot of parts replaced. Gotta love the parts changers :-D

I'm thinking about it. The Jetta's not all that easy to get in/out of with my bad knees and hubby's bad hip. What the heck would an IP module be?

I am not 100 percent sure, but the 96 Passat has the 5th injector, which my gut would say may have something to do with this problem. If I knew the code it'd be easier.

I'm almost thinking he had it read by PepBoys instead of using VCDS so really doesn't know what's going on with it.

Probably... That's pretty common. If someone doesn't have vcds, a regular scan tool won't tell you much.

It looks pretty clean, not a color I like very much but still for something that old and to be that clean and low miles.

You really will never know what the problem is until you go take a look.

Unless there's someone in that area to look at it, and we sell the Jetta quickly, not gonna happen. Dang it! Hubby would like to have a B4 instead of the Jetta, but doesn't look like the stars are aligning just yet.

After getting a picture of the engine from the seller, it's a firm no way for us. His "upgraded fuel filter" is some contraption zip tied in place at the front of the engine copartment with probably a good 4-5 feet of hose running from it to the IP. He stated he put a filter from a hmbee on because it's cheaper and more plentiful on road trips. Huh????? Yeah, no wonder it runs rough! Definitely passing on this one. We don't need another project, no matter how seemingly minor/easy it might appear to be.
