How many miles on the ride? What's your driving style? this on the '12 A3?

They should start tossing parts instead of hammering the emissions equipment with regens after this visit.

Ive got 175k on it now, and had the "fix" done at 150k, so ive got a bit of miles left to go on the warrenty. Yes its on my A3.

Hmmmm my driving style.... hard fast and heavy lol. I put about 150mi a day in heavy city traffic for about 10 mi. so im on the gas hard then on the brakes just as hard, trying to get out of the stupid DC traffic. then 60 mi or so of fast driving around 80mph. And a few days a week i have it idle for an hour or so.

So yea im pretty hard on the car, ive put 100k on it in the 2 yrs ive had it

Chances are you either have a cracked DPF that clogged the EGR cooler. common on the gen1. one cheap and dirty fix (hopefully they don't do this) would be just swapping out the EGR cooler but that will only get you outside the extended warranty and will fill back up from the cracked DPF.

Good timing on the warranty extension.

states love cash grabs, gotta get their fair share for their pointless agencies.

I'm amazed any of these car companies make money these days.

Take the car back to the dealer, tell them to fix it. It should be covered. Let them worry about any headaches that may be involved.

Given the substantial amount of labour required to change the DPF, you should get a loaner car.

So far so good for me with warranty repairs after the fix with my 2010 Golf TDI with 160,000 miles. I got a new intake manifold with a p2015 code and on Friday last week I got a new injector with a p13d1. And no issues about me having the upgraded CP3 HPFP and the extra 2-micron fuel filter.

Thank you VW!

I also keep looking at the new GTI. One of these days I'm getting a GTI! I'm very happy VW is being good to me so I'll feel good about getting another car from them!

Got a new turbo a couple of weeks ago and getting the DPF replaced (due to P0401) this week using the extended post fix warranty. Car has over 300,000 km. I don't know about USA but up here in Canada (as per page 6 in warranty booklet) you get a free courtesy car if your repair takes longer than 3 hours.
