hydraulic lifter head on Mechanical lifter block

So I heard that you can install a 12mm hydraulic head on a 12mm michanical block. I was seeing how this would be done sense there is a oil return hole on the hydraulic head. The guy mentioned to install a plug in the extra oil retune hole is then your ok to used that head on machanical block. So I'm guess I'm asking if anyone has done this or heard of it.

I don't see how it would work. The hydraulic head needs a bigger oil feed port, which comes from the block. Plus, the head gaskets are shaped differently.

Just find a whole engine if you need and sell what mismatched stuff you have. May even be able to find an AAZ engine.
