What is the best battery to replace the stock battery with on a 98 jetta. I noticed the stock has 650 cranks so I'll prob go with something along those lines or higher thats 98 jetta tdi compatible of course. ANy suggestions?

Best for the money (IMHO) is the EverStart 41-4. It has a 2 year free replacement, 6 year limited warranty, 650 CCA, 810 CA, 110 min. reserve capacity, retail price at Walmart was $39.94 w/exchange when I bought one. Made by Johnson Controls, Inc.

Check the fit on your Jetta, it works FB on my New Beetle.

Try adding water and charging the battery. The odds are it has never been checked and is perfectly fine just a bit low. The lead acid batteries will out live any maintenance free battery by many many years.

Look around for the battery threads in the maintenance section.
