Hi

I have a 1999 VW GOLF TDI (new body style)
and i need to change my front disc brakes and i wanted to know what type i need, i called the dealership and they said there are 2 types and i was wondering if anyone knew which one i needed, the guy was saying something about a sensor.

Thanks

depends on VIN number - either the dealer should be able to tell you or wherever you get your pads from. the sensor is built in to the pads to light up a signal on the dash that the pads need changing. If you get pads without sensors, twist to gether the two wires that are connected to your old pads and stick it up in the wheelwell.
I like Mintex Red Box, as they drastically reduce brake dust.

Ditto on the low dust from Mintex Red box. You can get them at www.germanautoparts.com

I changed my front pads first, and within two days I could see my rear wheels were dusty and no dust on the front. There have been some reports of disk squeal on the Mintex reds, so beware if that would really bother you. I think on my TDI I may have heard some sqeal once or twice, or I may have just had an auditory hallucination.
