I love this car, but the slow warm-up is one of the few complaints I have, especially in cold weather. Of course, when you only burn a quart of fuel on the way to work, it's hard to move your car 10 miles and generate any heat in the compartment. After searching I found this old thread, and figured that the $28 for a cover was worth a try. I ordered and installed the black vinyl cover that blocks the upper front grill on my 05 jetta wagon last week and have found a major improvement in the time it takes for warm air, and to reach full operating temperature. The upper covers fit well, but the wrinkles haven't all come out yet, but it still looks fine. I'm not sure the lower cover does that much, and I think just using foam pipe insulation would work better on the lower central intake.

All in all, a great and convenient change for my car.
