Diesel smoke (greyish/whiteish) on startup?

So one of my TDI's is now smoking unburned fuel upon cold startup? Its a greyish color, and smells exactly like fuel....no blueish tint or anything to it? The car has a new harness and glow plugs as well.

Any suggestions?

Probably injection timing a bit off. Is it hard to start as well?

Other possible culprits would be coked/worn nozzles on the injectors, worn injector bodies/springs - this would affect the way fuel is injected into the cylinder leading to poor combustion.
