Audi TT-RS. Only slightly quicker than a 1.9 diesel - VIDEO

Had a little timed fun track based event on Saturday. This was the final leaderboard after an hour of practise. Just 0.15 behind the TT-RS. Then it pulled its finger out for the 2 timed fast laps, and beat me by 1 second. Still.... I would expect a TT-RS to kick my ass normally, so I was chuffed to get my little Skoda that close to it.
VIDEO:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTUCL3owARY
Practise times as below

Timed laps (I improved on my best in the 1 hour of practise, so was happy!) Sorry image is so big. Also, Nissan 370Z? What Nissan 370Z? :D

Good to give the old girl a good kicking! And there is still plenty to come from my turbo (still running old mapping & needs fettling) and some other parts to get fitted.

Wow. Lots of Skodas out there. Good job BTW. Picture size not an issue at all. I wish most uploaded pics were this clear.

It was a predominantly Skoda club booked day, but due to us not filling all the spots, we had the TT-RS as a "guest" - The 370Z was already pre-invited as a "guest" of one of the Skoda club members. Was a nice purposeful looking car, but not quite as fast as a little 1.9 diesel hot hatch. ;)

Me heading out for more lapping!

Good job Jason! Tough those times dont say much about how fast those cars are, its all about the driver in them..

I have smoked E46 M3s and even 996 Porsches, thats fun but the drivers drives like grandmother.

I was not driving like a grandmother. Whilst I am no "The Stig!" I do like to peddle my car around as fast as I think it will let me. This was one tyre after I had finished :D

Only one tyre gone, but I will probably buy a new pair and just cycle the other 3 around the back. I might even (depending on the type of day) have a go at putting the worn tyre so the opposite shoulder gets worn out. Probably best to just chuck it though.

They "were" hard compound. Updates first post with a picture of the results of fastest laps in the 1 hour of practise. I forgot to add the TT did the same event at 8am, so had already plenty of practise under his belt. ;)

poor tyre. did you get the boostcontrol fixed with the hybrid turbo?
The control has been OK, but I still need to do the last stopscrew bit of adjusting you mentioned.

On track, as long as I kept it above 2500 revs, the car had great power. And I was watching the gauge (where I could) and it was holding 2.3 bar dead on pretty much to the redline, with a small amount of peak boost when getting on the throttle of 2.5 bar, but only for a fraction of a second. Was a bit smokey but that could be down to my "poor cold start, light throttle smoke" issue

Audi TT looked stock - but it had huge RS brakes and sounded like a jet fighter going down the pit straight. Very cool car.

Jason I would imagine that TT-RS is maybe less portly?

360bhp stock with only 1497kg. to move. ~4 sec. 0-97km/hr. That's if he was stock..

He probably has less lag than you too. TT-RS has 465nM @ only 1650rpm!

So I would say you did quite well! :)

most of the drivers can't drive or can drive, but like a pussy..

I also took one on Zolder with a miata with just 220hp and 200 Nm at the crank

in the end the TT guy said the brakes and the tyres sucked blablabla :p

not only him, also the headgasket, and pistons probaly too after a while:D
I'm sure it will be fine. ;) I've never had headlift or temp issues that seem to suggest I could be killing pistons. You never know though :D

Everyone needs their scapegoat. By the way, your slightly modified exhaust is doing a fine job. It's not quite looking the same as you sent it though. ;) Looking back I should have just asked for the component parts and got the place that modified it to build it. C'est la vie! :D

Not sure to be honest over the years the car had 40deg duration for 20k
Water meth for about 3k
R783's with 2260 @ 265hp 5 to 10k

So take your pick lol

It would be interesting to lift the head of a PD with 300hp on x duration just to see what the condition of the pistons are like. But again all depends on how the car is driven

the 4 motion looked perfect when we stripped it but did maybe 500miles racing and dyno before we stripped it down. Dans ibiza has had stock injectors @ 40degrees for a long time, 80%'s at 35deg and 40deg and now 120%'s at 36deg i think with NOS, maybe a little more and has had aabout 5k of death! haha

I don't know about the other three but that one looks pretty short on tread anyways, damage aside. Looks like a lot of fun.
