I'd be interested in this too since I decided to keep my Golf and not trade it for a GTI. One of the things on the + side of the ledger for the GTI was HIDs.

When i got my euro golf r head lights i needed the head lights which came with ballasts I think, bulbs, wiring harness adapters from HID to stock oem(halogen) harness, updated CECM and code that to the car with some minor code changing and i was done.

You need this wiring adapter made by Kufatec: http://www.oemplus.com/xenonhid-headlights-adapter-vw-golf-vi-p-2972.html I got mine in less than a week, you can search here for it too, sometimes they go up for sale. $70

Ballasts, $224 shipped: You need 2 of these, total of $224 delivered... http://www.ebay.com/itm/290885291875?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 This is the seller I ordered mine from, not arrived just yet.

Bulb retaining clips, $13 each: If the lights do NOT come with these, you need 2 - check with the seller before hand: These arrived http://www.ebay.com/itm/130921687599?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 $13 each.

You need bulbs, Philips and OSRAM supply the OEM bulbs, they are 4300K color but you can get any D1S bulbs $40 each - I got these and they arrived, the same seller as the retaining clips: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321138111009?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Apparently there is a way to enable high beams WITHOUT the need for a highline CECM... papa1 over on vortex says he has done it... I would PM him. If you DO need a highline you can get that cheap as well, just make sure you get a 315mhz version I bought one from this guy (it was $135 when I bought) and it worked no problem... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-OEM-high...t=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item46056d17c5&vxp=mtr

thank you very much for the info. i found oem lights with oem ballasts , bulbs, and i assume the clips are there too since the bulbs are the ones that came with the lights. so looks like i need the harness adapters and possibly the highline cecm to make it work, and some coding.
