So, no more Bosch headlights for my 98 Beetle...nla

Wondering which closest to OEM - I don't want junk

VAIP - Vision Lighting - $ 153.00
TYC - around $ 145.00

Wonder if anyone has suggestion, need lights bad (only when it's dark)

As always, your help most appreciated

And Merry Christmas !!!!

Most tyc stuff tends to be on the cheap side....often used for collision repair.
That having been said I have bought a mini Cooper radiator fan and Toyota Highlander headlights, and both fit 100% fine, no issues, for many years.
On the 2002 Highlander, the headlights looked exactly the same, and seemed to work the same as the OEM units when I had them clear from polishing them (after 200+k miles, they were well overdue to get swapped).
Yup...the Toyota tyc units as sold as OEM equivalent, not as a"style" change as many aftermarket units are, and many of those are junk. Best pricing at the time was Rock Auto.

I picked these up from a company in Southern California:

They have LED's around the outside like the euro style lights and use a single high low LED bulb. Very bright and good quality. Search "Spyder" on e-bay and they should show up.

Wanted to update

I'm probably behind the times.....

"AL" (Automotive Lighting) is Bosch Headlamps
- wholly owned subsidiary - so lights still made,
they just spun off to their manufacturer.

Just bought Bosch from Germany, It's "AL" made in Mexico
One tag says Bosch, 2nd tag "Automotive Lighting (AL)"

Looks same quality to me. Very nice and 1/2 price of USA

Interesting that Mexico manufacture shipped all the way to Europe
is 1/2 price compared to if they just bring over our southern border.

Welcome to the wonderful world of we-screwed-e'm-before-so-we-can-just-keep-on-doing-it of VW service parts.

Don't you just love the corporate mentality? News flash: this attitude is certainly not unique to VW.

Cheers,

PH
