I was thinking of getting an OBD tool to measure egr temps and if possible the dpf load on my Passat. I've read that temps > 1000 indicate a regen in process. Anyhow, it would be something for me to play with. Probably be a challenge programming it, but I like doing stiff like that.

I've read about the Scangague and the Ultragague. I kinda like the Ultragague better because you can get more on the Ultragague display.

There are two ultra models. An EM Plus and a MX 1.3. The mx is touted as being able to to access non-standard manufacturer specific gauges?
.
.
So has anyone had any success with either one of these two units for measuing the two values mentioned above. I was assuming egr temp would indicate a regen, but I may be wrong there. I'm sure there will be plenty of threads on this, but first I want to get the correct unit. Anyone use the em plus or the mx 1.3?

Edit... Just noticed we do have an OBD forum here at Freds
