Anybody else notice in their Passats a significant draft of cold air coming in around the radio? Whenever I reach up to touch the radio to change what I am listening to, you can feel quite a bit of cold air rushing by. I thought it was a bit odd.

I haven't noticed a draft around the radio specifically, but I have noticed that the floor heat sucks... not enough flow through the tiny ducts and vents. I'm considering attacking it with a Dremel or something to increase the airflow to the front floor areas.

On my '13 those floor vents are great. 4 outlets right above your feet. I've never had better floor vents.

The '12's can't be different can they?

The parts catalog shows them being the same between 2012 and 2013. Perhaps there is a difference between Climatronic and the standard HVAC systems... my feet are always cold in this car. :(

Even setting it for floor only doesn't help much.

Yesterday when I switched mine from just defrost to defrost and floor my sister swore I started blowing cold air on her feet. She swears that the defroster had more warm air than the combination. Then again she sets her side to 76 and I keep mine on 73.

I have a '13 and it's manual HVAC controls(not climatronic), and I don't find the floor heat to be anything to write home about. Like VeeDubTDI, my feet are usually cold in this car.

The floor heat sucks on auto in this car, even directed to the floors and my wife feels the same way. I don't have this issue with my B7 A4 (way older tech...)

OP: Like others I don't notice any draft coming from the radio area.

I think that's the cold air in the foot wells "sloshing" up when you turn.

No software update will fix this issue lol
Maybe for the climatronic guys? We need to start calling VW

Call VW so that they can say it's working just fine? No thanks... I'd rather just fix it myself.

I had never noticed it before, but I tested mine tonight. Didn't feel air blowing out, or even moving, but the area in front (towards rear of car) and below is certainly cold. Odd feeling like it was a cold mass that was radiating. Same here - manual controls.

None...2011 Golf DSG (replaced by VW W/) 2013 Passat SE 6M(bought back) Current 2017 sportwagen TSI 4Motion.
Did it in my 2011 golf and does it in the 2013 passat.i think it's just air shifting around before the car is warm. The torque is just throwing it at us :p
