I found this in the junkyard, assumed it was an early ECM due to 80 pin. Was a while ago and don't remember the year and model of car. Did any of these come with an immobilizer?
I hooked it up to my 1999.5 TDI swapped MkI and the Ross Tech cable couldn't connect, and it would crank but not fire for the 5 seconds I tried it. Is the ECM dead? I thought I read that the immo would let the engine run for like 5 seconds then shut off, not, cause the ECM to not power up.
Inside the case nothing looks fried.

Your trying to install a 2.0L gasser ECU onto a 1.9 diesel harness. This of course isn’t going to work- your pinout will be different and your prolly confusing the hell out of that ECU which results in the no start condition

You should have either Gen 1 or Gen 2 immo. You’ll need to check your cars vin to see what you have

Wow, I wonder how that happened. Junkyard mystery, or maybe that's why the car was junked. My donor does not have an immo I'm pretty sure, since I did nothing to defeat it and it runs with the MkI key.
