Yes this is for a Mercedes, but most if not all of the advice applies to the VW CRI diesel and their systems.

VERY GOOD READING!!!

Includes pictures of actual damage and are similar to what I have seen as a result of running high percentages of Biodiesel in all series of TDI's past and present.

Yup, this is why I add only 1 qt of B100 to each tankful, yielding something like B2. I do this solely for lubricity purposes.

I would like to run higher biodiesel percentages for environmental reasons, but I'm not willing to risk damaging the car to do so. In my opinion, driving a car that provides >40 mpg is environmental enough.

I wonder what Mercedes, BMW and VW dealers tell their clients in a state like Illinois where all diesel may be up to B20?

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I'll be going no higher than 2-4% BD blends. As the winter months approach in New England, I'll probably phase out the BD due to gelling concerns. Is a 2-4% BD blend susceptible to gelling, even when combined with winterized fuel?

no problems with even B20 gelling up in MI through several winters.

I ran B5 since last November no issues what so ever in a cold. I used a couple shots of Powerservice white bottle here and there just to make me feel better.
