So I was working in a 04 jetta PD that needed work. Put new smf in and new crank and cam censer. Was trying to set the torsion value and closest I can get it is -4.7 if I advance it any farther it just goes to -47.0 and flashes back to 0.0 and back in to -47.0. But if I retarded it I can adjusted between -4.7 to -10.0.

I searched on the form and can't seem to find a post that helps me out. Some insite on this please. Thanks Sean.

Do you mean check the timing belt settings like with the crank a lock and the cam pin? Or is there something else you mean?

That is what he means.

Those numbers make no sense.

I agree the numbers are something I've never seen befor. Won't hold a steady torsion value no matter where I bump the sprocket too. Just jumps all over the place at idle.

Bump up. Have the problem still. I can get it to hold steady at -4.3 or 5.4 anything in between that causes the torsion value to jump all over the place from -47 to 0. I also just replaced the timing belt and used all the correct timing belt tools. When I first stated it after timing belt job the torsion was -4.3 so I tried to advance it a little bit. Then the values jumped all over the place won't hold steady.
