My TDI SW has 161,000 miles on it, and lately, when it does not crank on the first try, there is a warning message on my display that reads:
Stop: SERVICE ENGINE NOW!

What does that mean?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It's kinda like those mysterious signs that I see up in Wisconsin, and that all the Wisconsin drivers seem to ignore.

My guess is that your engine needs some sort of service. That's just a guess mind you.

We'll need more info than you're providing in order to help you out.

Get it scanned for codes and report them back here. The dealer or find someone from the VCDS owners list in your area or sometimes Autozone (free) will scan for you. Without the codes not much more that can be done.

What does what mean? You will need a scan if I'm reading your post correctly?
