First choice dealership for buyback is also the earliest date?

I'm curious if anybody else experienced this.

I chose Team VW in Hayward CA as my preference for buyback. Earliest appointment was mid-February (five week lead time). From the available slots, it looks like they only have a specialist on site two days a week.

I have upwards of 20 VW dealerships around me to select from, from Santa Rosa to San Jose and out to Sac. On the portal, I selected nearly every one to see who had an earlier date available. Despite most having appointment availability on more days of the week, the earliest date was at least another two weeks after my primary dealership's earliest. So late February, early March. There may have been one or two with appointments a week earlier.

Is this what everybody else is getting? Is VW attempting to keep us at our primary dealership by limiting the earliest appointments? Or was this just coincidence?

Pretty sure it was coincidence. My primary had someone there 5 days a week, but they were not the quickest in the area for me. I'd rather wait a bit longer and bring the car back there as it's 20 minutes closer to me and I'll be towing the car in. Just scheduled mine two days ago and I was in the first week of March.

I waited an extra week to use my preferred dealer so it must just be coincidental

I did pretty much the same thing that you did when scheduling my appointment and got the same results. I have five (IIRC) within 100 miles and my preferred dealership had dates a full week earlier than any of the others.

At the time, I figured the reason was probably twofold - two of those dealerships are in much more densely populated areas, so there were more people trying to schedule there, and the others were kind of out in the sticks, so I figured they didn't have a specialist there every day. That was purely speculation, though.

I'm here in Northern VA, and earliest appointment only in march 14. I look other dealership and only Winchester VA has on March 8th.

What's up with that?

This wasn't the case for me. Uploaded docs 1/9, offer letter 1/11. Notarized, uploaded and appointment made 1/17, so I had this question in mind when I went looking for an appointment.

Car is registered in Daly City just south of SF but I moved to the Mojave Desert. 1.5hrs to my nearest VW dealers (Palmdale and Bakersfield equidistant), and for various reasons I also looked in LA (2.5hrs), Las Vegas (3.5hrs), Sacramento/Elk Grove (5.5hrs) and SF Bay Area (6hrs). The earliest date my preferred dealer in Palmdale has was March 1st. Most other dealers were close or slightly later. Thought maybe I'd get better results from my SF dealers since that's where it was registered, but didn't turn out to be true. But I stumbled onto Valencia, earliest appointment was for Feb 21st. I can't explain why this was the case, nor would I expect anybody would have the flexibility in dealers like I do, just adding some info for you

At Dirito Bros in Walnut Creek, the earliest I could get(appointment made last Wednesday) was March 1 but I opted for Saturday March 4...some 7 weeks out. I did not try any other dealerships as WC is closest to me. Two more months squirreled away in storage...

...btw, it really blows to have waited almost 4 months in some cases from document submission to get an offer, and then be notified it will be another two months more before the first available turn-in date.

Anyone is experience with two person on registration/title?

On their check list is to bring Power Attorney form.

I only have one dealership in town, the next dealership is up in atlanta which is 90 mins-2 hours away. not going that far for this, so the only dealership I could go to was this one. I saw at least 3 days a week being scheduled, maybe 5 days, I don't honestly recall and I don't want to lose my spot to check ;)

Anyway, appt made 3 weeks 1 day from when i logged on to schedule it.

Not true, when you are ready to set up the appointment you will be taken to the dealership you first picket calendar. You can look around for nearby dealerships and they might have a sooner date.
I think you either didn't read, or didn't understand, my post.

Are you really a settlement employee? If so, can you start a thread where we can ask you questions? It work would be super cool to hear an insider's perspective.

The employee in our area was and currently raising goats as her main income. I wouldn't expect her to have all of the insider scoop we are hoping for. They get the packet, take the car and move on...

I did read and understand your post. So to simplify my non-complex answer, your first choice dealership for buyback is NOT the earliest. But that doesn't mean that you will find an earlier one. You can search around like you did but some people have been finding other dealerships with sooner dates and some have not.
Do you really own a 2017 AllTrack diesel ?
