Anyone know of any advantages of replacing the 451 relay with the 616? I know the 616 is newer and has newer software.

From what I can tell, the 616 isn't necessarily newer, it's just from a C5 Audi A6 instead of a VW, but Audi steering wheels can have different functions and controls than what VW had from the era. It may not convert the resistance values the same to the data bus like the 451 does.

I would not assume they are interchangeable, but if you want to buy one and try it out anyway, would be interested in hearing what happens.

Looking at photos of C5 era Audi A6 steering wheels, they have radio volume and track/channel controls, and what looks like a page scroller for MFA function or another radio function, but no cruise control.

So, I would have my doubts on if a 616 is setup to recognize cruise control signals or even translate those signals to the right place if it does recognize those resistance values.
