Excessive tire wear

I took my car into the tire shop today to balance the tires. They recommended to me that I go back to the dealer because the rears were feathering on the inside and outside both back tires. I only have 3,500 miles on the car now. These are Conti Extreme Contacts. Anybody else seen this problem??
