Default WTB: Rear Coil Springs

Hi-

I have been a reader of this forum for while, but never a poster. I just purchased a 98 New Beetle TDI with 124K on the clock. I hadn't noticed before, but the driver's side coil spring is broken at the very top. It might have been the age of the springs, it might have been that the previous owner was around 300 lbs, but I need to replace them. I'm also going to put a hitch on to tow a small pop up camper, so I'd like to get springs that are heavier duty than the originals. Anyone selling some firm rear coil springs that would fit a Beetle?

Mike

Well, I'd also be open to suggestions on where to get some inexpensive springs. Just want some that will last for a while with normal usage and occasional towing duties.

I have a pair from a Jetta. They'll fit. The color codes are 3 green, 1 silver. Or 1 silver, 3 green, whichever way you're supposed to read those things.

If they'll work for you, make me an offer, and you'll have to kick in for shipping. Or come up and get them, your choice.

Thanks for replying. How many miles are on your springs? I'd be happy to get some but want to make sure there is some longevity to them. I've heard a few people talk about sags or occasional breakage of coil springs that have been used for a while.
