ECU Needs Removal for Tune ? 2010 Q7 TDI 3.0

Hey There!, Contemplating buying a 2010 Q7 TDI 3.0,113K miles,, what i have read is the ECU needs to be removed for Tuning ,, u can't use the OBD port ,, so every time want to change the tune u have to remove the ECU ,, is there a economical option with other tuners or piggy back,,, I doubt u can upgrade to a newer year KSU Thks. any for tips.
