A thread in rec.autos.makers.vw.watercooled discusses problems a person is having with his SRS check lights since he replaced his battery. Others have commented that jump starting can also wreak havoc on the computer control/diagnostic system. Is this so, and what can be done to get the elctronics back to normal? Must a VW dealer be involved?

There should not be any problem disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. I do it all the time when working on the electric system on all the VWs i have owned. includes A-1 A-2 A-3 B-4 and now A-4
