Just got an 03 Jetta and it only has a sinle 12V power port up front.
Has anyone installed an additonal port and how hard is it?

Is there a write up on this?

My 98 Beetle has 2 of them on the console and that is what I'd like to replicate.
My GPS is using one port so there is no room for my cell phone and such.
I know they are Radio shack style splitters but I don want extra wires to lay around - looking for a clean looking solution.
Thanks...

Go to your auto parts store and pick up a 12v lighter socket.
Drill proper size hole where ever you want the power adapter to be.. probably somewhere in the lower center console.. as that is easy to remove and in a good spot.Run power from under the drivers foot well ( there is keyed power and real easy to get to )
Run power to the socket and a ground from the socket to the body/metal part on the car.

Done
Just thought of something.. why dont you use the same keyed power location to hard wire your Gps too??? that would be easy and you dont need to buy anything.

I stuck mine in the glove box. Ran the wires to the posts above the dead pedle.

There was enough room in the back of the glove box to accomadate the 12v plug.
