Hello all,
Long-time member (nearly 20 years), having moved on in life and changed automotive platforms, finally at peace with selling my 2003 Jetta, my first new car. A very involved story regarding this well-loved vehicle; the epitome of "labor of love," it has literally and figuratively transported me through my mid-adult years, being an incredible object of fascination, pride, performance, efficiency, automotive education and life lessons. It carried me through two graduate schools + medical school, coast to coast and back (to New England) at least five times and up and down the Eastern seaboard regularly. I had met my wife with it, on our first date, etc. It has been a reliable and trusted transporter for my extended family, too, as I let my best friend use it for two years when he was under hard times, and the same for my sister-in-law just last year. It is tastefully modified with only high grade components, with ~80-90% of all work completed, performed by me.

With honest and full transparency, I am including in this package, the matching-numbers short block, VNT-15 turbo, 10mm injection pump, and a little-used OEM head. Any plans to utilize these will require R&R services prior to use. For ~40k miles, from 50k to 92k vehicle miles, I had been involved in the biofuel/WVO craze, having tinkered with multiple systems over that mileage (these are pics from that time, when I was all over S. Maine collecting fryer oil and had a few school and local newspaper articles about my endeavors; https://www.gettyimages.ae/photos/s...&mediatype=photography&phrase=scott mcquilkin ). At 92k miles a high, bottom end knock appeared just prior to a year-long cross-country trip (third year of medical school for clinical site rotations). I swapped out the OEM tappets, then a head gasket, and then a full, OEM head (the Kobleschmidt listed later), only to find that the sound was coming from just below. I did not see any obvious signs of piston skirt slap, nor any metal when I dropped the pan, but I needed the car within a month. So, I ended up blowing almost all of my saved travel funds on a new, OEM crate ALH that I installed with a friend with a week to spare (I have great film pictures while I was living on the ocean during that time). I also had sent out the O2J tranny to Aaron K.(BleachedBora) in Orgeon (I still have the plastic travel cooler that I sent it in!) as I found that the casing had some damage. The previously-installed Peloquin was serviced, with a new heavy duty clutch and SMF installed.

Waiting for the new lump+gearbox, I stripped out the entire WVO package (sold after I returned the next year), with the new mechanicals never being exposed to non-dino fuel. An expensive lesson, but I had a blast during that time... so absolutely no regrets.

Here is the thread that I in which I was trying to make some money back on parts before I left for a year:

Here is the WVO system for sale following my return after the year away:

*** PLEASE only consider this package if you know what it is, recognize what was involved to this point, and understand the platform! ***
While I will obviously have no control over it's utility post-sale, I would hope that it is not used just for parts (heart-strings being tugged here).

It's loud. Its exhaust smells (duh). It rattles at idle (SMF) and is a little hard on the back (Bilstein HD). And it is by NO MEANS a beauty queen; it has dents, scratches, dings, pocks, and some body rust (front quarter panels; right front the worst, needing replacement, but passing inspection). It has been regularly cleaned throughout its time with me, including regular Winter undercarriage washes. I know this car so well that I can show you its first ding (left, rear door edge from my friend's a$$ brother who hit the parked car next to it after only two months from purchase... I was pissed!).

Frame was just scrutinized due to the full, rear beam being replaced for rust last month, and was confirmed safe and rot-free from a respected, local German auto specialist service (Autowerkes, Freeport, ME). Again, no accidents, just the loving wear coming from prolific adventures.
It does NOT mark its territory with any fluid drips either; the engine/trans are tightly sealed.

And, this little rig rips! A wonderful formula that it possesses: (Torque + LSD)/Cornering = exponential Grins!
And, I'm being completely honest, even coming from the owner of his bucket list dream car; a W212 Merc E63S AMG wagon (which is my second new car, to this Jetta TDI which was my first!). :)

Particulars:
- 191,600 miles

I'd like to think this will sell quick at that price, if someone doesn't want to keep all the extra parts they could sell them and make a decent piece of the purchase price!

Regularly cleaned hinge areas

Battery is on a 2A trickle tender/desulflator only, NOT dead and being recharged.
And, I have never used Armor All/silicones... my vehicles' engine bays are always this tidy. (Just a thing that I enjoy, see this pic from 2003 after the original FM-100 install, with the Bendix Eclipse since day 1 of ownership; http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=550990&postcount=6 )

Amsoil bypass system installed in front of left, front wheel well. Input line from OEM oil cooler, with return line tapped into valve cover just below oil filler cap.
Also in this picture is the left, front HD skid plate tower, as well as the line for the fuel filter restriction gauge.

Stanadyne FM-100 heater element lighted switch in dummy to left of Hazards button.

Below are views of all door hinges, which I have always routinely cleaned and lubricated, similar to the trunk hinge areas above.

If it was a wagon I would have already sent you the money and be on flight to Bangor. Good luck.

Kudos for the most detailed FS ad I've seen in a long time.

Good price. I hope it finds a worthy home.

PS: Nice little inventory of cars. Good taste.
