My 2010 Jetta was throwing the P047 Exhaust pressure sensors code, so I replaced the flap today. The original part number 1K0253691D has been superseded twice and the latest is now 1K0253691F. The price I paid online was $280. I also purchased the two gaskets that are about $3.50/each. http://www.vwpartscenter.net/parts/i...FcRa4AodChQAdQ

The repair took about an hour. All that is needed is a 5MM Allen wrench to remove the stainless clamps and a mallet and screw driver or cold chisel to break the clamps free. I took a few pictures that I can post if I can figure out how to do that and I posted a short youtube video to see the old vs new comparison. This is definitely a design issue. I’m at 78k. I’ll be calling /writing VOA.

I have 70,000 miles and no problems yet. took mine out last month and found no sticking but lubed bearings with high temp spray. but was wondering if the new updated vlv's use the same materials for bearings and return spring. Is salt used on the roads in winter where you live?? My TDI spent 2 winters in Seattle area, no salt on roads in my area and now in Vegas, very dry non corrosive enviroment. But I agree it is a design fault that a part located where it is cant withstand what it would encounter under normal driving.

try cleaning and lubing the bearings on your old one to see if you can get it working properly so you have a spare if you find the new design is no better than the old
