I was doing some shopping around this past weekend for my next oil change, I am currently on castrol synthetic but would like to switch to a 0w40 grade oil for the winter and that's when I seen that Canadian tire sells Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic along with the Rotella T SB 0w40 100% both listed @29.99 for a 4l jug which is about $10 less over the castrol product. Has anyone ever used either product? Would the T SB be a safe oil to use? I did research and the SB doany stand for synthetic blend as I thought olid the just says 100% syntetic so not really sure what the SB means. Also would the T6 be a good substitute for the castrol syntetic 5w* that I use in the warmer months?

Even though Rotella 0w40 SB has SB in the title, it's not really synthetic blend like the others in the SB family.

Use either Rotella T6 or Castrol 5w40, or Rotella 0w40 year round without worry.

Chaning oil based on ambient temps is not necessary anymore with today's multi-grade oils.

Well I was mainly considering a 0w40 grade due to some cold days with some rough dry starts.

So the Rotella T SB is a no go? Or Is it safe?

I am considering that as well, however some areas where I park my car I have not electrical outlets to plug the heater in... Damn G/F's apartment building for not supplying hookups! haha

Also in Canada Esso XD3 0w40 and 0w30 100% synthetic.
I'm looking into using Lubro moly 0w40 full synthetic by German standards.
Looks like it might be great for ALH's. If any one is using this oil please let me know.
Maybe i should have posted this in your 0w40 thread Bob.

Yup, those too.

I plan on making a 0w40 thread like my CJ-4 thread sometime soon.
