High pitch sound.

Question... my new JSW with 11k has a very high pitch whine or sound for 2 to 3 seconds after turning off the ignition. It is not a mechanical sound but an electronic sound. It may have been there sense I have owned the car but may have been over powered by fan noise from summer heat. Might also be noticing it more because I am parking in my garage now.

It's normal. Give me a few minutes and I'll tell you why.

Here you go. At the bottom of the above link is the reason. It's the ASV. Anti Shudder Valve. I'd suggest reading the TDI FAQ. Lots of great info.

That description really does not discride what I am hearing. My sound does not occure after one or two seconds, it is already occurring as soon as the ignition is switched off. It sounds like what could be described as "ringing in your ears" type of sound.

Hard to hear the squeal on shutdown but it's there. Second time trying to convince you it's normal. I give up.

I didn't know that was what made that sound. Mine does that too but the sound is coming from under the car. Sounds like a piezo motor on an RC plane. I don't have speakers on my computer so I can't hear what's on the video. Don't give up so soon Cogen.

I know my car makes the sound in that video. if it's anything reminiscent of that then don't worry. Normal operation.
