Hey guys, I have a 2011 JSW and want to install a set of Golf R/GTI headlights that don't have the LEDs. I don't care about AFS.

My car doesn't have fogs and comes with halogen factory.

So far what I have is:

- Set of GTI housings with bulbs and ballasts

What I need (?):

- ECS harness adapters (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/ecs-mkvi-xenon-headlight-adapter-harness/mk6ecs31112/)

- "087" Highline CECM, does it matter which revision?
Would this one work? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/123484341247

- VAGCOM device for re-coding or link to someone in Portland, OR if they are available

Am I missing anything? I believe this is all I need to get this done.

Interested in confirmation as well, as I'm also looking to upgrade the lights on the #farmenwagen.

That one is from a MK VI NMS Jetta which is quite different than a MKVI Golf/Jetta Wagon. The Jetta wagon was badged as a Golf everywhere except the USA. I cannot confirm it will work. You need a 5K0937087 and an European one will not work with your NA key fob because the radio frequency is different. The letter suffix on the end indicates what frequency the fob uses. A 1K0 from a Golf 2 or 4 door apparently doesn’t have all the pin outs for the wagon, but a Tiguan seems to use the same 5K0937087 part. (I think mine is from a Tiguan). I think the B6 Passat uses the same part too but I’m not 100% sure.

I will see if I can find my list of letter codes indicating NA frequency.

I'm in the same boat. Except that I have everything on your list already. What I don't have is a nice clean set of instructions on how to install everything and more importantly, what programming changes need to be made.

I don't know the answer on the CECM. I don't remember which one I got, but even if I did I haven't confirmed that it works.

My main holdup on the project is that one of my housings was broken when I got it and I haven't figured out how I want to try to patch it up or if I should just track down a new housing. I'm planning to install fog lights when I do the headlights.

Yeah, I'm not worried about the fogs. Its coding in the bi-xenons that looks a bit challenging. I've never found a thread that offered clear instructions on what needs to be done.

If I remember correctly when I did mine, I just got a highline CECM for a golf, that had HID's. The ecs wiring connections can be found cheaper, I think mine were $50 from OEM vw supplier. You will need a vagcom to program the keys back to the cecm and then program the cecm to the car. Its only a few bites to change everything.

this is who i got my harness from. https://www.kufatec.com/
at the time it was the best option.

I was thinking about this process. I would hate to get the new lights installed with the CECM and then fail to get the key programming and coding done. Is there any reason that I couldn't do the CECM first. Get it working with the old lights, and then move on to swapping out the headlights and coding the new ones in?

The adapters came with my lights, but yes I believe that is the brand that I have.

By the way, I remember seeing pictures of your TDI years back. One of the nicest TDI wagons that I've seen on these forums!

Its not hard. I will put together a write-up for you. Yes you can code an 087 CECM to work with Halogens.
