Hi guys,

I'm new here and barely know anything about cars in general...

The other morning I went to start my Jetta and the engine continually cranked, but won't start. If I hold the key in the start position is will just keep cranking.

While this is happening the oil light is flashing on and off...I checked my oil, it's fine.

Also, while cranking the exhaust spits out white smoke.

Again, I don't know a whole lot about cars, so if somebody could try helping me search for some basic symptoms that would be awesome. I'd really like to avoid paying for this car to be towed :(

Thanks,
Adam

check out this no start thread first and see what you figure out. After let us know what u did if things do not turn out well.

Troubleshoot a car that won't start.

probably a fuel issue. maybe your fuel filter. When was the last time it was changed? check for air in the fuel line (the see through one)
