Is 1H0612151C the right brake proportioning valve for 96 Passat tdi?

The one I bought was:

357612151 /357612151A aka 191612151, ...151A, ...151C also

That's what the parts catalog says should be for Passat (no ABS) from 1990-97. It's the same as Jetta and Golf to 92 and Corrado to 95.

IIRC the attachment for the Mk3 regulator is different.

Well, that's one vote for each of my options. :) Are there differences in the line pressure outputs, or just differences in mounting?

This is the one I just bought:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Volksw...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
It worked in my 1997 Jetta Tdi with disc brakes.

Yes, the rear regulator for the Mk3 is different from that used on Mk2, B3/4 cars.

The specifics about how the valve performs is unknown, just that they are different. From looking at it myself the difference is in how the spring attaches at the arm and the design of the arm, and not in how the regulator mounts on the bracket.

Is there a reason you don't want to use the one prescribed by VW for the B4?

It's this:

357612151 used on Passat 90-97

vs:

1H0612151C on a Mk3 93-99

You can see how they're different.

I ordered 357612151.

I didn't want to intentionally use a different one. It is just that some sites showed both in the search results and said the other was for disc brakes. I understand now that they meant the mk3 with the drum vs disc brakes. :)

I couldn't find 357612151 stateside from any of my usual parts suppliers. The dealer wanted about $250, which was more then I cared to spend. Heritage had it for $46, but it cost me $40 for shipping.

Yeah it appears that the Passat version (Mk2 also) is getting harder to obtain. I got lucky when I needed one and a new ATE unit popped up on ebay and it wasn't all that unreasonable.

For the Mk3 there are two versions, the 1H0612151 is for drums and the 1H0612151C is for disc brakes, but both are of the same design. The regulating pressure must be slightly different between the two.
