Since VW was cheating on emissions anyway, they should have made one.

Unfortunately.

And we were supposed to get the Atlas TDI - now all those are going to Russia.

For the life of me I can't figure out why a giant gas guzzling brick of an automobile is perfectly acceptable yet a small diesel engine isnt...

Question Who needs these TDI's anyway?

After spending my entire career working in the oil & gas business, let me assure you that our country has enough fossil resources available to keep hundreds of millions of cars and trucks supplied with gasoline at an affordable price.

(And if we have problems, we have neighbors that can supply it).

The original concept was a TDI/hybrid. Best of both worlds

Maybe someone from Mexico made it up your way for the day. I see the TDI truck a lot in Tijuana.

I have a 2012 Tiguan and just bought a wrecked 2013 Golf TDI 6MT. They will be mated soon

As for the Atlas TDI, no such thing at this moment. I took a factory tour in May at Chattanooga and asked if they were making any and shipping to the rest of the world and they said no TDI motors were going to be in the plant anytime soon.
