I have a 2011 Golf TDI and in the specs it indicates it has a limited slip differential.
So is this diff controlled by the traction control setting whether on or not?
I've accelerated and still get wheel spin when traction control is off. Shouldn't both wheels automatically lock and turn? If that made sense.

My car does not have that option so I can't speak from experience. However, if your car does have a limited slip differential, it is still possible for both wheels to slip if you apply enough power. In fact, it is my possible that one could slip a little bit and the other does not.

But if one wheel spins quite freely and the other one does not at all, then I would take my specs to the dealership and ask why. You might have turned if off.

None any more. My heart couldn't take it.
A limited slip diff doesn't guarantee no wheel spin. It just guarantees that both drive wheels will turn more or less together. One or both can still break traction if enough torque is applied.

Lim slip means you boil both tires instead of just one in a low traction situation. :D
