2013 - DPF failure at 50k miles

Just brought our '13 Sportwagen in today for a EML light that came on this weekend. They said the DPF was 'malfunctioning' and that it needs to be replaced; sorry, forgot to ask the codes - will get those when I go to pick it up. I assume this is not normal at 50k - anything to be worried about?

replaced covered by warranty without a fight???? several report the dealer claiming failed because of egr problems not covered past 36k miles. If not covered, some have decided to wait and drive with the light on, till we hear what the EPA fix will entail before spending money on emissions stuff.

Lucky you. I just had mine replaced yesterday, although I was only responsible for $550 of the $2200 repair. I'm at 81k miles.

Mine went at 60k, fortunately it was also no questions asked.

Mine cracked internally and was replaced at 103,000 miles and the only question asked was: cash or plastic?
